KARACHI: Anti-smuggling organization (ASO) Preventive Lahore has foiled a bid to smuggle mobile phones and arrested three persons in this regard.

Information was received through Collector Preventive Lahore Faiz Ahmad that attempt would be made to transport smuggled mobile phones. Subsequently, Deputy Collector Mohammad Raza tightened the vigilance. Superintendent Agha Qadeer Haider and Inspectors Shahid Khan, Nasir Saeed, Amjad Khan spotted a suspicious vehicle coming from Peshawar at Thokar Niaz Baig Motor Way interchange.

The vehicle was stopped and on checking as many as 1220 non-duty paid mobile phones worth Rs5.0 million were recovered. The goods have been seized and investigations are underway.
