KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Agha Faisal on Tuesday ordered provisional release of motor-cycle parts while referring the classification dispute to Classification Committee of Pakistan Customs. The bench disposed of the petition with the said direction.

The bench was hearing a constitutional petition filed by Royal Traders which imported a consignment of bicycle parts and filed a goods declaration under relevant PCT heading. The custom officials however disputed the same and valued the item as “complete bicycle” which attracts Regulatory Duty also.

The petitioner contends that the bicycles are without tyres and battery which are considered as essential parts of a complete cycle.
