KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) allowing a constitution petition filed by a clearing agent Fareed A Khan ordered Ministry of Interior to delete petitioners name from Exit Control List.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh and Justice Karim Khan Agha earlier heard Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate, counsel for petitioner who submitted that the petitioner was charged in a case of pilferage of containers destined from Karachi to Afghanistan for use by ISAF. She maintained that co-accused including importer and transporter were exonerated by the trial court and later petitioner was also let off the hook as no evidence was found.

The petitioner’s counsel maintained that ‘Clearing Agent’ has the responsibility upto clearance from the port and not beyond. The petitioner is facing problems due to placing of his name in ECL, she contended praying the court to order the Interior ministry to delete his name from the ECL.

The bench perusing the documents and hearing arguments by the counsel for petitioner allowed the petition directing the respondents to delete petitioner’s name from ECL.
