KARACHI: MCC Quetta seized foreign origin contraband goods worth Rs25 million in a week as a rigorous anti-smuggling campaign is being pursued by the Customs with the assistance of other law enforcement and paramilitary forces.

Collector Quetta Ashraf Ali has expanded the anti-smuggling operations across the province including Manikhawa, Lakpass, Kolpur, Darakhsha and others areas. The seized smuggled goods include tyres, cloths cigarettes used batteries, tiles and non custom paid vehicles.

An official said vehicles carrying fruits to Karachi and other urban centers were found involved in transporting smuggled and contraband goods.

Ashraf Ali said well equipped and experienced teams had been deputed at several check posts and mobile squads were also active to thwart such kind of monkey business.

The team participated in the seizure operations comprised  Additional Collector  Zubair Shah, Deputy Collector (Preventive) Maqbool Baloch, Superintendent Saeed Baloch, Deputy Superintendent Maqsood Durrani,  Shabir Khan, Ghulam Haider Khoso, Ishaq Gorge, Aslam Khan Hanif Wazir, Musa Hazra, Essa Khan Qahir Khan, Sohbat Khan and others.
