KARACHI: The staff of MCC Peshawar posted at Torkham Station foiled another attempt to smuggle foreign currency out of the country and arrested an Afghan national identified as Zar Khan.
Collector Peshawar Gul Rehman is keeping strict vigilance on the movement of Pakistani as well as Afghan nationals to and from Afghanistan. Resultantly, this is the third attempt, which has been foiled to smuggle foreign currency out of country in less than a week.
A sum of $29,900 equivalent to Rs3.15 million was recovered from the possession of accused Zar Khan. A case has been lodged an investigations are underway.
It may be recalled that an Afghan national Tawab Khan was caught transporting Euro 30,000 to Afghanistan through Torkham station and earlier to that a Pakistani national Kaleemullah was caught transporting 20,000 Saudi Riyals to Afghanistan.
