KARACHI: MCC Peshawar has foiloed an attempt to smuggle gold into the country and seized 100 tolas of gold worth Rs5.5 million while one Tahir Ali has also been arrested.
Information was received through Collector Peshawar Gul Rehman that attempt wuld be made to smuggle gold into the country. Therefore strict vigilance was kept on passengers coming from Dubai at Bacha Khan airport.
One passenger was spotted coming from Dubai through a private airline. Upon checking the commodity was recovered concealed tactfully in a paid of shoes. The accused has been arrested and investigations are underway.
In another incident, customs staff at Torkham station arrested a Pakistani national Yahya Khan and recovered 67900 Saudi Riyal equivalent to Rs2.0 million from his possession, which the accused was trying to smuggle to Afghanistan. Investigations re underway.
