KARACHI: MCC Islamabad has foiled an attempt to smuggle smart mobile phones and seized foreign origin mobile phones worth Rs5.63 million at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad.
Additional Collector Nisar Ahmed received information through Collector Islamabad Saeed Jadoon that an attempt would be made to smuggle mobile phones through a flight coming from Dubai to Islamabad.
A raising party was formed under the supervision of Assistant Collectors Sadia Usman and Ali Asad. During the clearance, passenger identified as ARshad Khan s/o Mohammad Mumtaz was found suspicious as he was trying to pass through green channel along with baggage. Checking of his baggage led to recovery of foreign origin mobile phones.
The accused was arrested while his accomplice Waseem Akram fled from the scene. The investigations are underway.
