KARACHI: The Directorate General of Training & Research (DGTR), Karachi, commenced the six-day mandatory training course for the Customs clearing agents awaiting renewal of License.

A large number of Customs agents were queued up to undertake the training and the Directorate General Tariq Huda took up the task as a challenge considering the heavy schedule of a number of trainings already in progress. Director Zeba Azhar, who is a very competent and seasoned officer, managed the event in a very commendable manner.

Four batches of 160 agents/batch were constituted with time table containing important topics like budgetary measures and post budgetary changes, strategic trade control enforcement, program global shield, risk management, role and functions of SRB, CPEC and conflict management & negotiation skills, classification issues etc.

The significant aspect of training is the use of biometric machines for registration & attendance.

Certificates of completion of mandatory training course were distributed amongst the participants. As many as 42 recently recruited appraising officers and 17 Assistant Collectors of 44th CTP are also taking academic training at DGTR.

Lecture on Strategic Trade control enforcement was delivered by Zeba Azhar, Director Training. Lecture on CPEC was delivered by Chaudhry Jawed, Collector Exports. Program Global Shield & conflict management /negotiations skills by Khalil Yousufani Additional collector Port Qasim.

Risk management by Shafqat Niazi, Additional Collector Exports and Role & functions of SRB by Masood Sabir, Additional Director SRB.
