KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation Rawalpindi has seized equipment imported by Pakistan Telecom Company (PTCL) as the company attempted to avail inadmissible benefit of FTA through mis-declaration.
The equipment was seized at AFU Islamabad. PTCL tried to evade duty and taxes by declaring equipment as finished products in order to avail FTA benefit of zero percent concession wrongly although the imported goods fall in 5.0 percent tariff slab.
Value of the seized goods is Rs. 61 million and evaded duty and taxes are Rs12 million.
This is fourth seizure case made by Customs Intelligence Rawalpindi at AFU Islamabad within two months. Seizure has been finalized and Criminal proceedings are being contemplated.
