KARACHI: Collector Gwadar Saeed Akram has directed Customs Staff posted at Gwadar and Turbat International Airports to stay vigilant against the smuggling of mobile phones and other goods.
During checking of passengers and goods arriving from Sharjah by PIA flight, three suspected suitcases were taken into custody from passenger baggage hall and were searched by Customs staff, which led to the recovery of 548 pieces of assorted brands of foreign origin mobile phones. The market value of these Mobile Phones is Rs 6.0 million.
This detection has been made by the team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Aslam Baig, Inspectors Abdul Qadir Abro and Ganj Bux.
No one came forward to claim the ownership of the mobile phones. The above quantity of foreign origin smuggled mobile phones has been seized and an AIR in this case has been lodged. Efforts are being made to arrest the culprits.
