KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Muhammad Humayun Khan on Thursday hearing a constitution petition filed by A-One Sewing Machine and Co ordered provisional release of a consignment of imported sewing needles.
Irfan Moten advocate appeared for the petitioner company submitted that petitioner imports needles frequently but this time consignment was withheld for no reason. There was a dispute over valuation, he submitted.
The bench after hearing the counsel for Pakistan Customs and petitioner in view of an earlier order passed on Oct 04, 2016 in an identical case ordered that as an interim arrangement, without prejudice the case of respective sides, the petitioner shall pay the differential/disputed amount to the Nazir of the court. The Nazir after satisfying that government dues are secure shall ensure release of the consignment.
The bench also ordered the Collector of Customs (Appeals) to decide the appeal filed by the petitioner within 60 days from the date of receipt of this order.
