KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput on Tuesday adjourned hearing of a petition filed by Kashif and Co, importers of textile items.
According to petitioner they imported a consignment and declared it to be Textile Invisible Coated Cloth. During examination by custom officials it was found to be polyester fabric and polyester stitch-up fabric and hence a contravention report was made. The custom also questioned the value of the goods declared to be valued at 2.3 US $ per kilogram whereas the actual value stood at US $ 5.5 kilogram. They also claimed the origin of the goods to be from China while according to custom it was of Korean origin.
Today when the petition came up for hearing, Khalid Dogar advocate filed power on behalf of the respondents and opposed the plea by the petitioner. The two concurrent finding are against the petitioner. He also contested that ‘Valuation’ was involved in the case and said it was a case of mis-declaration and under valuation.
Ilyas Ahsan, Principal Appraiser, Pakistan Customs also opposed the plea.
The bench however after hearing the sides adjourned further proceedings indefinitely for want of time.
