KARACHI: MCC Quetta has made significant progress against smuggling and seized goods worth Rs1.517 billion during July-April, 2016, which is multiple times higher than the goods worth Rs333.05 million seized in the same period last year.
On the directives of Collector Quetta Saeed Jadoon, Customs Quetta and Deputy Collector ASO Amanullah Tareen are keeping strict check on the movement of smuggled and non-duty paid goods.
During the period under review, MCC Quetta earned a revenue of Rs506.6 million through auction of seized goods, which is multiple times higher than the revenue of Rs12.71 million earned through auction in the same period last year i.e. July-April, 2015
During these 10 months, MCC Quetta collected revenue of Rs102.92 million on release of goods on payment of duty/taxes as well as fines and penalty.
Apart form the above, MCC Quetta during July-April 2016 seized smuggled diesel worth Rs179.9 million and recovered RS153.50 million through auction of the same. During July-April 2015, MCC Quetta had seized smuggled diesel worth Rs64.52 million, which was sold through auction at Rs13.05 million.
As far as operation against narcotics smuggling is concerned, huge quantity of charas and crystal was also seized during the period.
