KARACHI: In continuation of the ongoing special crackdown against smuggling under directions of FBR, MCC Islamabad has made another seizure of smuggled goods worth Rs70 million.

On information received from Collector Islamabad Arsalan Subictageen, the Anti Smuggling Squad of  Islamabad Collectorate in a joint operation with Chakwal police, near Balkasar, stopped two trailers carrying  40 feet containers coming from Peshawar.
On examination the containers were found to be stuffed with large LED TVs, air-conditioners, silk cloth, auto parts, cigarettes, bicycle parts, welding rods, indoor/outdoor units of AC and polyester cloth etc.

The persons accompanying the vehicles failed to produce any import documents of the foreign origin goods.
The smuggled goods have been seized under the Customs Act, 1969 and four persons have been arrested.
Approximate value of seized goods is Rs70 million. FIR has also been lodged against the accused persons and investigation is underway.
