KARACHI: Anti Smuggling Organization Model Customs Collectrate (MCC) Preventive Lahore in a raid captured large quantity of Light Emitting Diode (LEDs) Television sets and split air-conditioners (ACs) laden-truck near Baddon Road.
The raiding team on the directives of Zulfiqar Younus Collector Customs Preventive Lahore, headed by Assistant Collector Preventive Dr Muhammad Adana Khan and his team members including Superintendent Munnawar Khan, Deputy Superintendent Saeed Joya, Inspector Abdul Ghaffar cautioned a truck to stop and following search of the vehicle they found 123 LED TVs of different sizes without tax paid. The tax was amounting nearly to Rs 4 million. They seized the captured goods.
In another raid in Lahore Anti Narcotic Force (ANF) Lahore handed over to Customs two truck-loads of foreign brand cigarettes 278 cartons, parachute cloth 8450 kilogrammes (kg), polyester 7100 kg, tyres 71 numbers and used sewing machine 48 pieces. The goods’ worth is around Rs 22 million.
The Preventive Collectroate registered an FIR in this regard and started investigation.
It is pertinent to mention here that in assistance with the Military establishment the watch and surveillance of anti social elements movements by the government securities agencies have been beefed up.
The report said that the terrorists and outfit-banned organizations were rigorously funding their ulterior designs in the country through smuggling and shifting of contraband items.
The governmental security agencies including ANF, Maritime Agency, Rangers, Coast Guards, Khyber Riffles, Levies and police and sensitive agencies were working hands in hands in curbing such activities.
