KARACHI: Director General I&I-Customs Imtiaz Ahmed met DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar on Thursday and discussed various issues including the ongoing anti-smuggling campaign.

Imtiaz Ahmed is in Karachi and having meetings with officers to finalize the anti-smuggling strategy.

Sources said these meetings are meant to final such a strategy that would leave no space for smugglers and unscrupulous elements.

Government and military leadership is committed to root out terrorism from the country. Customs authorities have taken all concerned departments on board including civil administration, law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

Sources said DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar, DG I&I Imtiaz Ahmed and Chief Collector Enforcement Zahid Khokhar are jointly supervising the operation in South. ASO Preventive, Customs Intelligence and Customs Enforcement would run the show.

It was known that the smugglers, carriers, importers and markets housing smuggled products would be targeted and the facilitators would also be taken to task.

Karachi, Hyderabad, Peshawar, Quetta and Gwadar are the main Customs stations and the authorities have their eyes fixed on these stations to root out smuggling.
