KARACHI: Pakistan Customs celebrated International Customs Day on January 26, 2015 with professional zeal and fervor.

The celebrations started in the morning with the hoisting of flag by Chief Collector of Customs Enforcement Nazim Saleem follow by parade by Customs jawans.

A seminar about Customs Day was conducted by the Directorate of Training in auditorium, old Custom House Karachi. Abrar Hussain Naqvi, Retired Member of Customs was the Chief Guest of the seminar.

Later in the day, a huge cache of seized contrabands were set ablaze at National Highway near Ghaghar Phatak (on Sea Coast). The goods destroyed included: Liquor total 89516 bottles; Beer: total 171262 cans; Charas 164 kg, Indian ghutka 1880 kg and 475000 pouches, Heroin 136.205 kg, thousands of packets and foreign origin cigarettes and other contraband goods including medicine etc.

The representatives of different embassies, head of different departments and large number of Customs officers/officials were present on the occasion.
