KARACHI: In a major crackdown on smuggling activities, a joint operation was conducted by Hyderabad Customs Enforcement, Sindh Rangers, and Sindh Police in Pano Goth, Hyderabad.
The operation, which lasted over three hours, targeted warehouses storing smuggled goods, specifically chalia (betel nuts), and marked the second large-scale anti-smuggling operation by the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Hyderabad within a week.
The raid was initiated based on intelligence provided by a sensitive agency. During the operation, law enforcement officials faced armed resistance at one of the warehouses, prompting them to call for backup from Sindh Rangers and Sindh Police. With their timely assistance, the authorities successfully overpowered the smugglers and seized chalia worth approximately 55 lakh rupees.
Additional Collector Shah Faisal Sahu stated that the crackdown on smugglers’ warehouses will continue, emphasizing the government’s commitment to curbing illegal smuggling activities in the region.
