KARACHI: The Pakistan Hardware Manufacturers Association (PHMA), representing hardware and tools traders for over six decades, has raised concerns over the recently issued Valuation Ruling No. 1908/2024 by Customs on October 3, 2024. This ruling, concerning PCT codes 8467 and 8414, impacts goods critical to the construction, industrial, service, and vocational learning sectors traded by PHMA members.
PHMA has highlighted several issues with the ruling, stating it was issued without stakeholder involvement, lacks critical facts, and significantly affects end users. PHMA urges Customs to withdraw Valuation Ruling No. 1908/2024 immediately and reschedule a hearing involving PHMA, FPCCI, and other stakeholders to present their viewpoints and evidence, including representative samples of imported goods, ensuring fair and realistic customs values are determined.
