KARACHI: Hearing a constitutional petition filed by Sheikh Ali Baakza, importer, challenging a Office Memorandum dated 01.05.2023, letter and directions by different federal government departments having some role in regulating import of wheat, a custom appellate bench of High Court of Sindh comprising Justice Muhammad Junaid A. Ghaffar and Justice Jawad Akbar Sarwana set-aside the same to the extent of Petitioner.
The bench passing a short order with detail judgment to follow ordered custom authorities to discharged off loaded and release the goods. The bench during hearing took extreme exception to the different stances taken by the Plant Protection Department and Ministry of Food in respective letters.
Sardar Zafar Hussain Advocate represented the customs department and submitted that consignment were stopped acting upon the request made by the Plant Protection department.
