Quetta: The Regional Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation, Quetta, under the supervision of Mr Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, Director General, I&I, Islamabad, conducted a successful operation against smuggling on 08.12.2023 and 15.12.2023.
The operation was based on credible information and intelligence reports. The Customs Quetta team intercepted and seized two smuggled/non-duty paid vehicles, namely a Toyota Prius (model 2016) and a Suzuki Alto Car (model 2012), worth 6.5 million rupees and 2.2 million rupees respectively, on 14.12.2023.
On 15.12.2023, the Customs Quetta team also seized 260 cartons of foreign origin almonds (60 kg each), worth 47 million rupees, along with the offending vehicle, worth 12 million rupees. The almonds were being smuggled from Iran to Pakistan via the Balochistan border.
The total value of the seized goods and vehicles is estimated at 67.7 million rupees. The Customs Quetta has initiated further proceedings in the case in accordance with law and has vowed to continue its crackdown against smuggling activities in the region.
