QUETTA: Customs Enforcement Quetta has recovered huge quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs60 million as the Customs authorities have further tightened the grip against smugglers.
Given the shortage of dollars to make import payments, a lot of trade switched to smuggling, which causes additional pressure on local currency in the local market.
Member Customs Mukarram Jah Ansari has advised the formations to leave no stone unturned in curbing smuggling. The special focus on Quetta, which is the epicenter of smuggling in Pakistan.
On the directives of Chief Collector Abdul Qadir Memon, Collector Quetta Enforcement Samiul Haq and Collector Appraisement Agha Saeed Pathan have increased vigilance and strengthened the intelligence network to counter illegal trade.
On the directives of Chief Collector Quetta Abdul Qadir Memon, Collector Enforcement Samiulhaq, Additional Collector Moin Afzal and Assistant Collector Shafiullah have expedited the efforts against smuggling, and cases on daily basis are being made.
Incharge Rakhshan Division Superintendent Asif Zaman, Inspectors Haji Zahir, Ilahi bux and others seized large quantity of dry fruit, plastic bags, kitchen sets, cigarettes and non-custom paid vehicles in several operations.
It may be mentioned here that Customs Rakhshan Division has seized smuggled goods worth Rs500 million in the last quarter.
