KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan on Wednesday adjourned hearing of petition filed by Steel Vision.
The adjournment came as counsel for respondent DIT officials was busy before another bench of SHC. The petition pertains to detention of steel sheets consignments. The DIT maintains that abusing the facility available in Karachi Export Processing Zone, the importers are causing loss to the government revenues since many years. The importer are accused of tampering with documents to avail different concessions allowed to units existing in KEPZ.
The bench fixed June 26 as next date of hearing. If allegations are proved the scam involves thousands of consignments and evasion of duty worth billions of rupees.
