KARACHI: The state counsel was directed to produce a copy of Prime Minister’s Yellow Cab Scheme introduced by Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in 1990’s.

The order came from a division bench of High Court of Sindh headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan during hearing of a petition filed by a citizen who purchased a Suzuki Khyber car under the Prime Minister’s Yellow Cab Scheme. The car was auctioned by HBL after the bank retrieved the car from first purchaser under the Yellow Cab Scheme.

The petitioner appearing in person maintained that all the departments have given the green signal but the vehicle is not registered as private vehicle.

Additional Advocate General Sindh Mr Saif submitted that the issue pertains to the Sales Tax department which was not made party in the petition.

A state counsel appearing for the respondent federal government to a query by the bench said that conditions applicable under the said scheme needs to be examined before passing of any final order.

The bench agreeing to the proposition asked her to obtain and place on record copy of the scheme so that issue of registration of the vehicle are private is finally decided.

The bench later adjourned further proceedings till July 20.
