KARACHI: In an interesting case of high handedness, a tile importer told a customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh that tiles imported by him, detained and in custody of customs have been used in a customs building.

The petitioner appearing in person as his lawyer was away, told the bench that he was given broken tiles after the court ordered release of his consignment lying with the custom officials.

The counsel for respondent officials maintained that they handed over the consignment in good shape and have acknowledgement duly signed by the petitioner.

The petitioner contended that he was forced to sign the acknowledgment before consignment was handed over to him and later he found the tiles in broken state.

The bench asked the petitioner  to file a claim once his lawyer returns and is available or to seek alternate remedy as available to him.
