KARACHI: The United Business Group (UBG) on Thursday expressed confidence that their candidates would win the upcoming elections of the FPCCI.

The UBG is winning FPCCI elections since its inception with a wide margin and a leading businessman from Baluchistan Daro Khan Achakzai is set to win the presidential slot, the UBG leaders said.

Patron-in-Chief of UBG SM Muneer and Chairman of UBG Iftikhar Ali Malik said in a joint statement that we have more supporters across Pakistan than the required numbers.

We have not only taken historic and unprecedented decisions for the welfare of the business community which has inspired many which continue to reflect in the FPCCI elections since the last four years, they said.

S.S Muneer and Iftikhar Ali Malik said that all of our candidates will again win the elections to be held the next month and Khan Achakzai will be our next president of the Apex Chamber.

They said that Mr. Achakzai belongs to a respectable family of Chaman, he is an electronic engineer and with rich experience in the fields of international trade, engineering consultancy telecom industry, edible items, commodities, import, export, petroleum, and gas sectors.

He is also a recipient of many awards and has visited dozens for countries for the promotion of trade and he has a burning desire to serve the business community.

The business leaders said that majority of the chamber of commerce, chambers of small traders, women chambers and trade associations continue to support us and the opposition has failed to dent our position despite efforts.

UBG would continue to play its due role for the promotion of trade activities after winning the elections and will push the government to take steps for rapid development of the SME sector in the province, they added.

ChairmanCoordination FPCCI Malik Sohail said that improvement in the security situation is helping Baluchistan to become a hub of trade and business activities in the country.

He said Gwadar would soon become an international city, like Hong Kong, Singapore and port cities of the Gulf region which will trigger economic activity.
