KARACHI: A customs appellate bench comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Omar Sial on Wednesday asked counsel for petitioner to file a counter statement identifying the reasons for allegations that the fake documents of an army auction was submitted by the respondent customs officials.

According to details, Directorate of Intelligence and Investigations (DIT) detained a Toyota Surf vehicle for being smuggled one. During litigation, owner provided copy of auction documents (Army auction). Today when the petition came up for hearing, the counsel for official respondents submitted a verification which termed the auction papers are forged and fake.

The counsel for petitioner objected to the verification and said it was obtained in just two day time. The pace with which the verification was secured make its doubtful, contended counsel for petitioner.

The bench asked the counsel to file a counter statement indicating reasons to establish that the verification was fake.

The bench later adjourned further hearing till Dec 11.
