KARACHI: Lawyers across Sindh boycotted the court proceedings on Wednesday also .They wore black arm bands to show anger over kidnapping of Barrister Owais Ali Shah son of Syed Sajjad Ali Shah, Chief Justice of High Court of Sindh who was abducted from a Super Store on Monday afternoon.
Sindh Bar Council appealed to the judges of the SHC on Wednesday to discharge the boards before them in order to show solidarity with the Chief Justice. The senior most judge allowing the request ordered to discharge boards. One or two cases of very urgent nature were heard in chambers by the judges.
Sindh Bar Council member Executive body Mansoor Leghari addressing a press conference this after noon gave an ultimatum of a week for recovery of abductee or lawyers would be forced to come on street.
If the son of Chief Justice is not safe and abducted then scions of Governor and Prime Minister would also be abducted, said SBC members.
“Karachi Bar Associations” president Mehmood-ul-Hasan deplored the law and order situation in Karachi and said lawyers community is united and behind the family of the abducted lawyer.
Police despite hectic efforts and city wide crack down failed in recovering the abductee. Hundreds of raids were conducted in the city besides Hub, Balochistan and strict checking on National Highway failed to yield any result. According to initial reports, eye witness called police helpline 15 (Madadgar) but his call was ignored on account of technical error. Later the management of the super store informed the police . As the identity of the kidnapped person was not known immediately, abductors have a time of two hours after kidnapping in which they can leave the city.
As no call for ransom is received intelligence agencies are working on clues and angles including allege threats from supporters/ operators of Safoora Carnage case accused who have been convicted by a Military Court.
