KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence Quetta has seized around 165 kilogrammes (kg) of charas after recovering the contraband item from a Toyota car near Shehriyar Housing Scheme on Chaman-Quetta Road.
The narcotic sealed in bags was concealed in the cavities of the vehicle and the value of the contraband in the international market stands around Rs 16.50 million.
Deputy Director Customs Intelligence Quetta Inamullah Wazir supervised the proceedings of the incident.
The Quetta Customs on the directives of Director General Customs Intelligence Islamabad Imtiaz Ahmad Khan has stepped up its crackdown in curbing the smuggling of contraband goods.
A case has been registered by the department and it started hunt of the persons involved in the crime.
It is the fourth seizure case of Customs Intelligence Quetta in the last more than one month as it recovered 6 kg of heroin and 920 kg of charas from two cars and a bus.
It is said that the timely movement of the Customs department in curbing the smuggling of contraband goods has put positive impact in curbing the crimes besides the swift actions also proved blockade for the supply line of terrorism-financing, anti social elements activities and designs of banned outfits in disturbing law and order in the country.
It is observed that all the securities agencies were working in each others’ active sharing of intelligence and with the assistance of Military establishment to stem out the nefarious designs of the terrorists in the country.
