KARACHI: Several irregularities in the allotment and occupation of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) residential flats/bungalows have come to the surface, which warrant prompt action.

The residential flats for Customs employees near MCC Hyderabad are housed by employees without proper allotment orders. Besides, the officials living in these flats are still receiving house rent which is 5.0 percent of their salary. This amount is to be deducted from the salaries of officials having official residential. Moreover, these inmates are also receiving house ceiling allowance.

It was also known that these flats are illegally using the electricity billed to MCC Hyderabad, and thus the Customs is bearing extra burden. Residence of Additional Collector Hyderabad is occupied by Additional Collector Adjudication Quetta & Hyderabad Riaz Memon without allotment.

Then Deputy Collector Hqrs Hyderabad Saleem Memon in 2013 is reportedly responsible for this unjust distribution of Customs residential flats without proper procedure and allotment.

Then Collector Hyderabad Asif Marghoob Siddiqui had ordered to form a committee for the proper allotment of these flats, but Siddiqui was transferred and Ibrahim Vighio assumed the office of Collector Hyderabad. No such committee was formed and the flats were distributed without proper process.

Officials residing in the said flats include Inspectors Asad Mirza, Iqbal Mughal, PA to Collector Mohammad Iqbal, Superintendent Nighat Jabeen, CHO Ansar. Director Zahid Bhaiyo, Sepoys Isa, Khameesa and Dildar.
