KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Anwar Hussain on Tuesday allowed provisional release of kitchen appliances imported from China under brand name “Kenwood”.
The bench earlier heard counsel for petitioner R & I Electronics who maintained that they have imported three consignments of Completely Built Unit (CBU) which are lying at the port and demurrage is increasing as custom officials are neither accepting the assessment by them nor are allowing in-bonding.
Masooda Wahab and Zafar Hussain advocates appearing for the Customs Valuation submitted that an appeal preferred by the petitioner is pending before the appellate tribunal.
The bench however after hearing the sides ordered the provisional release subject to payment of differential amount through post dated cheques. The bench also ordered that cheques could not be en-cashed unless the controversy is finally decided.
