KARACHI: A meeting of Pakistan Customs Officers Association (PCOA) held in Islamabad has protested the arrest of senior Customs officers by NAB in a 13-year old case.
President of the Association Director General-IPR Imtiaz Ahmed Khar, General Secretary Additional Collector Basit Abbasi, Director General Intelligence-Customs Lutfullah Virk and around 40 other senior Customs officers including Sarwat Tahira Habib, Arsalan Subuctageen, Zeba Hai, Akhlaq Khattak.
The meeting observed tha these were senior civil officers and were always ready to cooperate with other agencies.
The officers said that arrest of senior customs officers for the purpose of investigation regarding a 13-year old case was harassment, which should be avoided.
The meeting was of the view that the officers were only suspects and there was no concrete evidence proving their wrongdoing; such mal-treatment of officers would inflict an irreparable loss to their reputation and social life even it could impact their work.
