KARACHI: Anti smuggling Organization (ASO), Larkana has lodged an FIR against 12 unidentified persons on account of forcibly snatching the vehicle which was containing smuggled goods on Jacobabad road.
According to details, ASO staff of Larkana intercepted a truck bearing registration No.GLT-919 on suspicion of goods smuggling. During the process of transporting the vehicle to the Custom Check Post Jacobabad by the ASO staff, abruptly around 15 unidentified persons riding in cars and motor bikes delimited the said truck by means of coercion and turned its direction towards Baluchistan.
The assailants also took the hostage of one Customs Sepoy Manzoor Ali Mashori who was accompanying the driver of the truck. Moreover, in the wake of said incident, Assistant Collector of Customs (Sukkur) immediately drop a line to the higher authorities of Rangers and coordinated with the Rangers personnel at Maula Dad Check Post to expedite the action in view of the incident occurred.
Responding hastily, the ranger’s personnel along with the ASO staff tried to run after the container but as the darkness was prevailing throughout the remote area, all efforts went in vain.
It is pertinent to mention that, the container has moved to the far-flung areas of Baluchistan province as the hostage Customs Sepoy got freed near Sindh-Baluchistan border in district Jacobabad after facing severe torture from the perpetrators.
Hence, it is evident from the situation that the container was undoubtedly containing the smuggled and non-duty paid goods. FIR has been submitted to the Special Judge of Customs & Taxation, Karachi. Further investigations are underway to arrest the accused persons.
