KARACHI: In a significant operation based on credible intelligence, the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) conducted a series of successful raids in Karachi, leading to the recovery of substantial quantities of smuggled goods.

Acting on verified information, the ASO team raided a Villa-cum-godown located at 608, 7th Street, Bahria Town Karachi. The operation resulted in the seizure of 136 PP bags containing Indian-origin Gutka (brands: z-21, Adaab, Habibi, etc.), totaling 7,050 packets with an approximate value of Rs. 20 million. All legal formalities were meticulously observed in the presence of Bahria Town security. The confiscated goods were transferred to a warehouse for detailed examination and further legal proceedings.

Chief Collector Enforcement, Basit Abbasi, has reiterated the importance of stringent vigilance against smuggling activities and has authorized raids on warehouses, provided all regulatory requirements are met.

Information was conveyed to Additional Collector Basit Husain and Deputy Collector Raza Naqvi by Collector Enforcement Karachi, Moinuddin Wani.

In another set of coordinated operations, ASO, alongside intelligence agencies, launched successful actions near the Passport Office, Saddar, and the Moachko Customs Choke Point on the RCD Highway, Karachi, over the past two days. The operations yielded significant quantities of foreign-origin smuggled goods.

Smuggled items, including inverters, crockery, hair color, and used tires, were discovered aboard a passenger bus (Registration No. BSA-736), with the seized goods valued at Rs. 35.53 million.

Two passenger buses (Registration Nos. SGS-788 and BSC-465) were intercepted, resulting in the confiscation of various smuggled items. The haul included used car engine parts, banned Chinese salt (Ajinomoto), cigarettes, used tires, and 9,340 liters of High-Speed Diesel (HSD). The goods from Bus No. SGS-788 were valued at Rs. 19.30 million, while the 6,340 liters of HSD from Bus No. BSC-465 were valued at Rs. 16.55 million.

The total value of the seized goods across these operations amounts to an estimated Rs. 71.38 million.
