KARACHI: The Assistant Registrar of Custom Appellate Tribunal, Bench III was put on notice and ordered to appear before the Custom Appellate bench of High Court of Sindh on 17.9.2024 at 11 am along with all relevant record and file.
The order came in a Special Customs Reference Application filed by Pakistan Customs 252/2024 challenging the pecuniary jurisdiction of a single member of the tribunal.
Khalid Mehmood Rajper advocate appearing for the Applicant department maintained that the single judge can hear cases involving up to Rupees 0.5 million whereas in instant case the amount is about 0.7 millon as raised in Show Cause Notice. The bench recalled that it came across same issue in a number of cases and decide that Assistant Registrar of bench concerned be placed on notice for appearance in person along with the original file of the case and the standard operating procedure for filing and scrutiny of the appeals.
The bench extended interim order till next date of hearing.
