KARACHI: A number of consignments held by Pakistan Customs over classification disputed were ordered to be released against security deposit by a custom appellate bench of High Court of Sindh.
The petition was filed by Far Easter Impex which filed the petition through Pervez Iqbal Advocate while respondent Pakistan Customs department was represented by Sardar Zafar Hussain advocate.
The counsel for petitioner company submitted before the bench that a number of consignments were imported and GD was filed mentioning HS Code 3824.9999 while department is assessing the same under HS Code 2016.9040 attracting a higher rate of duty and taxes. He prayed for release of goods against securing of differential amount of duty and taxes till controversy over classification is finally resolved.
The bench after hearing allowed the request fixing the next hearing on 22.8.2024 along with another petition bearing no 3172/2024.
