MULTAN: In a significant crackdown on smuggling, the Collectorate of Customs in Multan achieved remarkable success during July 2024. A total of 60 cases were made, resulting in the seizure of smuggled goods worth Rs410.09 million. This impressive figure represents a staggering 159 percent increase compared to the Rs158 million worth of goods seized in the same month last year.

Here’s a breakdown of the operations conducted by various units:

– Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Multan: The ASO Multan made 09 cases and confiscated smuggled goods valued at Rs62.33 million.

– ASO Bahawalpur: In Bahawalpur, ASO officers seized goods worth Rs8 million in 2 cases.

– ASO Sadiqabad: The ASO team in Sadiqabad successfully confiscated goods worth Rs14.5 million.

– ASO D.G Khan: In Dera Ghazi Khan, ASO officers intercepted smuggled goods totaling Rs270.26 million.

– MIAP Multan: The Multan International Airport (MIAP) ASO unit seized smuggled goods worth Rs9.67 million.

The seized items included a variety of contraband, such as tyres, betel nut, cigarettes, gutkha, cloth, medicines, skimmed milk, monosodium glutamate, and vehicles.

Under the guidance of Collector Imran Sajjad Bukhari, Additional Collector Shah Faisal Saho has intensified vigilance at checkpoints. He personally oversees anti-smuggling operations to curb illicit trade. Additionally, the Customs authorities receive full cooperation from Rangers, police, and other sensitive agencies.
