KARACHI: Giving an interim relief, a custom appellate bench of High Court of Sindh comprising Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar and Justice Adan-ul-Karim Memon ordered release of three consignment imported by petitioner Metallurgy International filed against Director General (Custom Valuation). The bench ordered petitioner to secure disputed amount of duty and taxes with the Nazir of the court.

The bench earlier heard Muhammad  Saaq Shafiq Siddiqui advocate who said that despite setting aside of Valuation Ruling No. 168 of 2022 and Order in Revision No. 95/2022, goods of petitioners are assessed on the basis of said Valuation Ruling by the department on pretext that some SCRA is pending before the court challenging order of the Appellate tribunal.

Sardar Zafar Hussain Advocate, counsel for the Custom Valuation when confronted relied on judgment by the Supreme Court and contended that in view of the above judgment , no interim relief can be given to the petitioner.

The bench after hearing the sides ordered release of three consignments against securing of disputed amount of duty and taxes.
