KARACHI: Two identical constitution petitions filed by Lahore based Al-Baraka Steel were disposed off by a custom appellate bench of High Court of Sindh comprising Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar and Justice Adnan-ul-Karim Memon.

The petitioner company through counsel Rana Shahid Ghafoor Advocate challenged the blocking of two Goods Declaration by the custom authorities.

Sardar Zafar Hussain Advocate appearing for the respondent custom officials submitted that these petitions can be disposed of as GDs have been de-blocked thus these petitions have served purpose. He also informed the bench that separate Show Cause Notices have been issued to the petitioner / importer.

Khalid Mehmood Rajpar appearing for the Pakistan Customs, Port Muhammad Bin Qasim Collectorate submitted that his clients have no concern with the blocking of GDs.

The bench recording the statements by the counsels for customs disposed of the petitions with directions to the petitioner to respond to the Show Cause Notices.
