Quetta: In a major operation against smuggling, the Customs Intelligence & Investigation (I&I) Quetta seized 33 Japanese origin vehicles of various makes and models worth 84.6 million rupees on Thursday.

The operation was carried out on the basis of credible information received from Mr Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, Director General, I&I, Islamabad, who directed the Regional Directorate of Customs I&I, Quetta Nadeem Memon to take action against the smugglers.

Customs I&I, Quetta, the vehicles were intercepted by a joint team of Customs I&I and FC North at Nokundi, a border town in Balochistan province, near the border with Iran.

The vehicles were being smuggled into Pakistan from Iran through the unfrequented routes.

The seized vehicles include Toyota Land Cruisers, Toyota Hilux Surf, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Vitz, Toyota Premio, Toyota Passo, Honda Civic, Honda Fit, Honda Vezel, Suzuki Alto, Suzuki Wagon R, and Daihatsu Mira.

Further proceedings in the case have been initiated in accordance with law, the press release added.
