KARACHI: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi has lodged an FIR against Akram Rashid of M/s Akram Autos. Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi has seized a huge quantity of smuggled Spark Plugs and other auto parts of Japanese origin from a warehouse in S.I.T.E Area, Karachi. The seized goods are estimated to be worth Rs. 1.5 billion in the market.
The raid was conducted on November 11, 2023, based on credible information received by Director General Mr. Faiz Ahmad Chadhar. A team led by Deputy Director Wasif Malik, Principal Appraiser Irshad Shah and Appraising Officer Asad Shabbir carried out the operation and lodged an FIR against Akram Rashid of M/s Akram Autos, who is the owner of the warehouse.
Directorate is conducting investigations to unearth the network of smugglers, financiers, and facilitators involved in this illegal trade. It also mentioned that this was the second major seizure of smuggled Spark Plugs in the past two months, as the Directorate had earlier recovered smuggled Spark Plugs of Chinese origin, valued at Rs. 169 million, from a Godown in Phase I, D.H.A Karachi on September 31, 2023.
