Karachi: In a remarkable display of efficiency and collaboration, the Directorate of Customs Intelligence, Karachi, under the leadership of Director Engineer Habib, alongside Additional Director Afzaal Wattoo and Deputy Director Wasif Malik, has achieved a significant breakthrough in their relentless pursuit of combating smuggling activities. The success is a result of their joint Anti-Smuggling strategy, which involved close coordination with sister Intelligence Agencies, Rangers (Sindh), Police, Home Ministry, and District Administration.

During the month of September 2023, the Customs Intelligence team in Karachi seized smuggled goods valued at a staggering Rs1.104 billion. This achievement, made possible through rigorous planning and cooperation with various law enforcement agencies, underscores the Directorate’s commitment to maintaining law and order.

The momentum of this Anti-Smuggling drive was unwavering, as October 2023 saw the continued success of the Directorate. Smuggled goods worth Rs1.116 billion were seized during this month, reinforcing their dedication to curbing illegal activities.

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the fact that the Anti-Smuggling Wing (ASW) of this Directorate comprises only 30 dedicated individuals. When considering the exceptional performance of the last two months, the ASW’s contribution in terms of revenue generation averages an unprecedented Rs74 million per person.

This accomplishment not only reflects the effectiveness of the Customs Intelligence team in Karachi but also highlights the importance of inter-agency collaboration and a shared commitment to combat smuggling. The ongoing efforts demonstrate the dedication of these law enforcement professionals in protecting the country’s economic interests and maintaining law and order. The Directorate of Customs Intelligence, Karachi, is setting a shining example for others to follow in the ongoing battle against smuggling and illegal trade.
