The Collectorate of Customs, Enforcement, Lahore conducted a raid on a godown near New Vision Group of Institutes, Saeed Park, Old Ravi Tool Plaza, Shahdra on Friday and recovered a huge quantity of smuggled Afghan Transit auto parts worth Rs. 800 million.

The raid was carried out on a specific information of dumping smuggled auto parts at a camouflaged premises under the directions of Ms. Zeba Hayee Azhar, Member Customs-Operations and Mirza Mubasher Baig, Chief Collector of Customs (Enforcement-Punjab). Muteen Alam, Collector of Customs, Enforcement, Lahore supervised the search operation which resulted into recovery of massive quantity of smuggled Afghan Transit “ACER” brand new auto parts including CV joints, stabilizer link and axle suspension system etc. The recovered goods involving duty/taxes Rs. 575 million were taken into the possession and shifted to State Warehouse through 16 Mazda Trucks and one container. The godown/premises was sealed. The police authorities extended full assistance in the whole search operation which went smoothly.

The initial investigation revealed that one person namely Arshad is owner of the godown and he is involved in smuggling of Afghan Transit auto parts. So far, nobody claimed the ownership of the smuggled goods. Criminal proceeding under the provisions of Customs Act,1969 are in process.
