KARACHI: The anti-smuggling strategy directed by COAS General Asim Munir is being put in place. 

A major smuggling attempt was thwarted, pursuing the information of DG Customs Intelligence Faiz Ahmed.

Director Shafqat khan niazi and Additional Director omer bin zaffar chatta formed a team led by Deputy director ahmad rizwan and Intelligence officer Asif ullah Khan.

Customs staff with the practical cooperation of Pakistan Army, D-I Khan Police and D-I Khan Customs carried out a major operation in D-I Khan, after an exchange of fire with the smugglers, the Customs Intelligence took timely action and seized the smuggled goods worth about 50 million rupees. 

Seized items include leather, tyres, cloth, plastic bags, and tea leaves. An FIR has been registered after arresting two smugglers.

An official said a decisive campaign is started with complete support from military leadership and in the second phase, noose will be tightened around influentials patronizing smuggling including politicians.
