QUETTA: Pakistan Customs has established a laboratory at NLC in Quetta, which is complaint with the standards of WCO.

Chief Collector Baluchistan Abdul Qadir Memon inaugurated the laboratory. Collector Appraisement Quetta Agha Saeed, Collector Enforcement Irfan-ur Rehman, Additional Collectors Umar Shafique, Imran Lillah and other Customs officers/officials were present on the occasion.

The Customs lab at NLC Quetta will examine all categories of chemicals and other goods. The facility, which provides fair and legitimate examination reports will benefit traders, Customs agents etc., on a large scale. The business community in Baluchistan had been demanding such a facility since long.

The laboratory which is primarily run with the cooperation of Customs Appraisement will facilitate quick examination of chemicals and other goods in Quetta. These examinations are a requirement for the valuation of several chemicals and products. Earlier, traders in Baluchistan had to approach laboratories in other provinces, which caused delays.

A leading trader in the province, Haji Fojan thanked the Chief Collector and Customs Appraisement for the laboratory, which would go a long way in facilitating trade.
