QUETTA: Customs Quetta has seized large number of non-custom-paid vehicles along with fertilizer and sugar at Pakistan-Afghan border, as crackdown is underway against smuggling.

On the instructions of Worthy Collector of Enforcement Mr. Sami-ul-Haq conveyed through Additional Collector of Enforcement Mr. Moeen Afzal as well as by Assistant Collector Mr. Shafiullah and Mr. Asif Zaman, Superintendent, Rakhshan Division, FEU Nokkundi headed by Mr. Ali Ahmed Lehri and Mr. Imran Joseph, Inspectors in collaboration with 29 Brigade, Pakistan Army seized 67 NCP Vehicles,12799 Bags of Fertilizer and 1960 bags of Sugar at Pak-Afghan Border.

Total CIF value of seized vehicles comes to Rs249.795 million and Market Value Rs362.354 million.

An official said there has been a significant surge in seizure of smuggled goods soon after a new team was placed in Customs Enforcement Quetta.

On the instructions of Member Customs – Operations Mukarram Jah Ansari and Chief Collector Enforcement Abdul Qadir Memon, Customs formations in Baluchistan launched a crackdown on smuggling and eradicated the entire Sanrjani network. Moreover, cases are being made on daily basis. Successful anti-smuggling campaign would result in increased legitimate revenue of the government at import stage.

The seized vehicles include Toyota Corolla (Indus) Car, Toyota X-Corolla Car, Toyota Prius Car, Toyota Probox, Toyota Aqua Car, Toyota Fielder N-car, Toyota Crown Hybrid car, Suzuki Jimny Jeep, Toyota Vltz , Suzuki Alto, Daihstu Mira, Nissan Moco car, Suzuki Wagon R, Toyota Momo, Suzuki carry pick up and Toyota Hilux.
