KARACHI: Customs Enforcement Karachi has seized large quantity of smuggled goods worth millions of rupees.
On the instruction of Collector Feroz Alam Junejo and Additional Collector Honak Baloch, Deputy Collector Inamullah Wazir has further expedited the efforts against smuggling.
Team Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Karachi based on credible information conducted raid on two factories located in Korangi Industrial Area and recovered 12 truckloads weighing 20700 Kgs and 20300 Kgs (41 MT in total) respectively of undyed and unbleached smuggled grey cloth with a total market value of Rs60 million.
FIRs have been lodged against the accused. Investigations have been initiated.
Moreover, based on information, ASO Enforcement Karachi posted at Mochko Choke Point, RCD Highway intercepted a bus enroute Quetta-Karachi.
On search of the bus it transpired that the bus was especially engineered for the purpose of smuggling. Opening of the cavities resulted into recovery of huge no of used bullets shells of 7.62 and 12.32 calibre. Further recovery of suiting cloth rolls, ladies cloth, Gutkha and tyres has also been affected.
The total value of seized goods and vehicle was determined to be Rs24 million. Three persons have been arrested and further investigation is in progress.
