KARACHI: The Director, Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigations, Collector (Appraisement) MCC East and Deputy Attorney General for Pakistan were put on notice for July o4 in a petition filed by a common. Genuine importer against detention of a Lexus vehicle imported from Japan.

According to details Mukhtar Ali Rawjani moved the court maintaining that his son Muhammad Raza Rawjani, resident of Japan sent a Lexsus vehicle to him under gift scheme as provided under Para 3-(6) of Appendix ā€œEā€ of Import Policy Order 2020. The vehicle was released by the MCC (Appraisement) East after completion of formalities but the Directorate of I&I detained the vehicle.

Shahab Imam and Rana Sakhawat Advocates appearing for the petitioner maintained that D.I.T, Pakistan Customs is not informing the reason for detention and the petitioner apprehends that after this illegal act, some adverse orders would be passed without due notice.

The bench after perusing the file, ordered issuance of notices to the respondents as well as Deputy Attornry General Pakistan for July 04 while restraining the D.I.T from any coercive action till next date of hearing.
