KARACHI: Customs Enforcement Karachi has lodged an FIR against certain accused for involvement in the smuggling of Chinese origin blankets.
Information was passed through Collector Enforcement Feeroz Alam Jonejo to Additional Collector Honak Balloch to the effect that huge quantity of smuggled / non-duty paid foreign origin blankets were dumped at premises situated at Backside of Diamond Metals, Survey # 111, Deh Orangi Tapo, Manghopir, Islamia Colony, Karachi.
In order to fulfill legal formalities, Deputy Collector Inam Ullah Wazir appraoched the Court of Civil Judge & Judicial Magistrate, Karachi West to grant the Search Warrant under Section 162 of Customs Act.
Accordingly, the raiding team headed by SPS Operations ASO-HQ rushed towards above mentioned place for conducting search of the premises to recover the smuggled goods. No one was present at the premises.
After fulfilling due formalities, search was conducted, which revealed that huge quantity of smuggled China Origin Blankets were dumped in the premises. Accordingly, the process of shifting of the smuggled goods dumped in the godown was initiated to Keamari-III warehouse for detail examination and completion of all legal formalities.
The weighment of recovered blankets was found to be 13,400 Kgs. Efforts are underway to trace-out and arrest the culprits / associates involved in this crime.
