QUETTA: In pursuance of credible information that an attempt will be made to smuggle foreign origin contraband or smuggled goods from Pak-Afghan border towards Quetta through a car.
The Collector Customs (Enforcement) Quetta Khalid Jamali and the Additional Collector Customs (Enforcement) Quetta Moin Afzal mounted strict vigilance on different Field Enforcement Units.
The staff of Field Enforcement Unit, Yaroo, mounted the strict vigilance / checking of the road traffic. On 16.06.2022 in the evening a vehicle Toyota GLI Car bearing Registration No. BAP-713 (Sindh) was stopped at Field Enforcement Unit, Yaroo which was driven by a driver namely, Abdul Manan S/o Saloo, was asked to board off and he was questioned as to whether was carrying foreign origin contraband or smuggled goods in his possession.
The driver has denied the possession of any foreign origin contraband or smuggled goods in the vehicle. Thereafter, thorough search of the car was undertaken and 200 Wrist Watches of Foreign Origin having worth PKR 20,00,000/- were concealed in the tool box and from the inner cavities of the rear trunk of the car Foreign Currency worth US$200,000/- (PKR 41,400,000/-) and Saudi Riyal 930,000/- (PKR 49,290,000/-) were recovered.
Total worth of the seized goods along with car is Rs 95,190,000/-. FIR has been lodged against the driver for making an attempt for illegal trafficking of foreign currency and the smuggling of goods and further investigations are underway.
